A prescription for your heart and soul ❤
For many, the journey to self-acceptance begins with a spark of inspiration. But for me, it was survival. My battle with anxiety and depression, coupled with over a decade of self-harm, led me to a breaking point. When I turned my private blog public and openly admitted my struggles, I had no roadmap—just a deep desire to heal. That vulnerability created a community of others who sought the same, proving that healing isn’t just personal; it’s collective.
Unlearning societal conditioning is not a destination but a continuous process. I had to rewire my self-talk, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and, most importantly, extend grace to myself. The world often paints healing as a linear journey, but the truth is, it’s an ongoing practice—one that requires patience and intention.
For those beginning their self-love journey, I emphasize five key practices:
• Practice Affirmations – Speak kindness into your life.
• Find Community – Healing is easier with support.
• Set Boundaries – Protect your peace unapologetically.
• Embrace Self-Discovery – Learn what truly brings you joy.
• Give Yourself Grace – Progress over perfection.
Personally, I stay grounded through gratitude.
Ending my day by acknowledging the good reminds me that even in chaos, joy still exists.
I hold onto one simple affirmation:
“Endless good comes to me in endless ways.”
This philosophy inspired my creation of affirmation decks, Black Man Affirmed and Black Girl Affirmed. Their impact has been profound, helping people challenge negative self-narratives and embrace new perspectives. For some, they provide reassurance. For others, they offer a much-needed shift in self-perception. Most importantly, they remind us that we are more than our struggles—we are worthy of joy, celebration, and self-love.
Where it is safe to set down your armor and be seen, heard, and supported.
