My journey in fashion has been an ever-evolving tapestry of challenges, resilience, and creativity. Though I’m not originally from Trinidad, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to produce much of my work there and build a strong professional presence in the region. I evolved from styling local talents to gracing international red carpets like the Grammys, all while overcoming the challenge of establishing a unique voice in an industry that often overlooks diverse perspectives. Trinidad’s rich culture has been a constant source of inspiration, helping me push boundaries and create bold, fresh perspectives in fashion.
Every project I take on is a chance to weave my personal vision into the fabric of my work. Whether designing innovative looks for major music videos and films or styling for stars like Goapele and V Bozeman, I take the time to truly understand each artist’s essence. This process ensures that every creation tells a compelling story—one that speaks to both the individual and the world around them.
SHATORA ARDELL
My brand, originally known as Adrell’s Closet, has since evolved into Shatora Adrell to better reflect my expanding vision of blending high fashion with everyday accessibility. This transformation has allowed me to provide people with pieces that make them feel stylish and confident, regardless of their budget. Beyond the runway, I founded the non-profit Strength in Numbers as a natural extension of my desire to give back to the community that supported me. Through this initiative, fashion becomes a powerful tool for empowerment, education, and connection, impacting lives far beyond the realm of aesthetics.
Looking ahead, I remain committed to challenging both myself and the industry. The next chapter for Shatora Adrell involves expanding into more inclusive spaces through collaborative projects, global fashion campaigns, and innovative opportunities for emerging designers. My goal is to break down the barriers to high fashion and styling knowledge, ensuring that creativity and empowerment are accessible to all. By staying true to my vision and embracing each challenge as an opportunity for growth, I continue to redefine what it means to create, inspire, and make an impact on the world of fashion.
